| In a Lighter Vein.....
|
A good father was talking to his 5-year old son while taking the long drive from Subang Jaya to our temple.
"You must be quiet in the temple, don't create any disturbance, especially during the priest's katha," the father advised his son.
"Yes, dad, I know," said the little boy, "I mustn't disturb all those who are asleep."
(Maaf karna Panditji, ham aapki baat nahin kar rahe. Aap to bahut achhe hain.)
A man asked God, "Can I ask a question?"
"Go right ahead," God responded.
"God, what is a million years to you?" the man asked.
God said, "To me, a million years is only a second."
"Hmmm," the man wondered, and then he asked, "God, what is a million dollars worth to you?"
God said, "To me, a million dollars is just a cent."
So the smart guy said, "God, can I have a cent?"
And God cheerfully responded, "Sure!!.....just a second."
A RM1 note met a RM50 note while they happened to be in the same wallet. "Hey, where've you been?" the RM1 asked, "I haven't seen you around lately."
The RM50 answered, "Oh, I've been hanging out at the casino in Genting Highlands, then I went on a cruise. I've been to most of the shopping malls and clubs, and quite a few cinemas. How about you?"
The RM1 sighed and said, "You know, the same old place - temple, temple, temple."
With such big advances in science, the great scientists came to the conclusion that they could manage without God. They decided to go and tell God that He was no longer needed.
God was very understanding. He nodded His head and said, "I see. Well, no problem at all, and no hard feelings.
But before you go let's have a little contest. What do you think?"
"What kind of contest?" the scientists asked.
"Just a simple man-making contest, you know, out of clay," replied God.
The scientists were already experts at cloning sheep and humans. So they quickly agreed to God's proposal. The chief scientist bent down and picked up a handful of clay to start work.
"Okay, I'm ready!" said the scientist.
"No, no, no....." replied God, "You go get your own clay."

| Ram Setu - the bridge that Ram built
|
Ram Setu, the bridge that Ram built with the help of Hanuman and his vaanar sena, is under threat of desecration. Irresponsible
politicians with devious agendas have come up with plans to build a shipping lane cutting through the 1.75 million-year
old structure that is sacred to the Hindus. This is just another conspiracy to destroy evidence of the glorious and
technologically advanced past of the Sanatan Dharam. Click on the following links to see various views of this ancient
bridge:

Another View from Space
These unscrupulous politicians, who obviously have vested interests, insist that the Ram Setu is just a
natural phenomenon . They think that this closed-eye view gives them the right to destroy the structure, ignoring
all religious and environmental arguments to the contrary. If it suits their agenda, these very politicians are quite
capable of declaring that the Great Wall of China and the Pyramids
are also not man-made. Insensitivity to the feelings of Hindus, lack of contact with reality and their tendency to twist and turn
facts for political and financial mileage disqualifies these individuals from calling themselves the leaders of the
Indian nation. Truth will always prevail. Truth is eternal. Have a look at some footage of the holy bridge under
construction:

| The President Speaks
|
Dear members and devotees of Shree Lakshmi Narayan Mandir,
Radhe Radhe !
May the grace of Bhagwan Shree Lakshmi Narayan be always on us.
At our Annual General Meeting on 4 May 2008 a new Management Committee (MC) was elected for the term 2008-2010 and I was elected to serve as the President. Except for three new faces, the MC is basically made up of individuals who have served the temple whole-heartedly and diligently over the years. Thus we can expect continuity albeit with some adjustments to meet the changing times and challenges ahead.
Various subcommittees have also been set up, and members and devotees are requested to volunteer their services in these subcommittees to bring in new ideas and manpower in the management of the Temple.
As mentioned in my acceptance speech, Youth, Education and Welfare will receive greater attention during the term of the new MC. In a spiritual organisation such as ours, activities that enhance the in-depth understanding of our religion will be vigorously pursued.
We are also in the process of enhancing our information dissemination system so that members can be kept abreast with all our activities and programmes.
Lastly, as we all know, no plans can be successful without the enthusiastic co-operation of all the members, and I seek your understanding, co-operation and participation in all activities and in every aspect of our Temple's management.
Radhe Radhe !
Yours in the service of Bhagwan Shree Lakshmi Narayan,
Sosheel Sharma
President (2008-2010),
Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Kuala Lumpur

| Be Thou a Devotee of the Lord
|
Be simple. Be humble.
Discard arrogance and resentment.
Surrender thy ego at the feet of the Lord.
Eliminate any sense of separation from the One.
Be thou a devotee of the Lord.
Be loving. Be caring.
Be kind. Be forgiving.
Shed the cloak of jealousy and animosity.
See God in everybody and everything.
Be thou a devotee of the Lord.
Be thankful. Be grateful.
Be sincere. Be honest.
Marvel at the wonder of this universe.
Appreciate the beauty of the Divine Creation.
Be thou a devotee of the Lord.
Be generous. Be big-hearted.
Have faith. Have hope.
Give thou within thy means.
Take thou within thy needs.
Be thou a devotee of the Lord.
Feel the oneness with the Lord.
Meditate on the glory of the Lord.
Yearn to be united with the Lord.
Bow thy head in prayer to the Lord.
Be thou a true devotee of the Lord.

| Isn't it strange......?
|
Isn't it strange how RM20 seems like such a large amount when donating it to the temple, but such a small amount when going shopping?
Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when you're at the temple, but so short when you're watching a good movie?
Isn't it strange that you are so short of words when you're praying, but you have no shortage of things to talk about when with a friend?
Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read a chapter of the Bhagwad Geeta, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel?
Isn't it strange how everyone wants front-row tickets to concerts or games, but will do whatever possible to sit right at the back in the temple?
Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event at the temple 2-3 weeks in advance so that we can include it in our agenda, but can make adjustments for other events even at the last moment?
Isn't it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others, but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip?
Isn't it strange how we believe everything in magazines and newspapers, but we question the words in the Ramayana?
Isn't it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven, but no one wants to believe, do, or say anything to get there?
Isn't it strange how we send jokes in e-mails and forward them right away, but when sending a message about God, we think twice before sharing it with others?
IT'S STRANGE, ISN'T IT?
